At this start of the New Year and the New Decade, here are the things you definitely want to do, purchase or aspire to be for your pets.

1. Feed healthy treats - Feed fresh crunchy veggies or treats with simple ingredients, such as sweet potatoes and carrots, and skip the tiny calorie and preservative-filled grenades.

2. Read pet food labels - Make sure the food you feed your pets is as few ingredients as possible. This is the most important decision you can make for your pet's health and well-being.

3. Walk more - You both can use more walks, and you'll live longer and be healthier because of it. Also, this is how dogs truly bond. Trust us, Dogs Love Walks. ;-) (If you're looking for daily or weekly walks, we're now accepting new clients! More below!)

4. Visit your local shelter - For those of you who are concerned about the state of stray animals in your hometown, go visit, talk to shelter employees, and decide how you can help. This will allow you to see what's working and what needs to be fixed.

5. Attend regular vet exams - Don't only visit the vet when your furry family member is sick. Your vet's job is to preserve health and prevent illness. Also, a little lump, cough or limp you may be ignoring could be the start of something more serious. Regular vet exams are opportunities for you to learn how to ensure your pets stay healthier longer.

6. Get your dog's or cat's heartworm preventative - Heartworm disease is fatal to both dogs and cats. There is no treatment for cats and the medication used to treat dogs is costly, takes months to work, and carries potential health risks. Indoor cats are not immune either. Make sure to learn more and act now.

7. Be proactive about "pesky" behaviors - Little behaviors can turn into big problems quickly. If your dog is barking at passing cars, pulling on the leash, growling when you come near their food, or jumping on guests, these behaviors can be curbed with little behavior modifications from you. If you'd like help, give us a call at the number below!

8. Hug your pet everyday - And be thankful for all you have. Take the time to reflect each day about something you're grateful for, even the not-so-goods. They make us who we are. And we're so fortunate to share our days with these loving and kind fur babies.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing your furry friends!
